Cartridge Recycling Fundraiser (Fall 2008)

Coordinator: Doug Irving

As many of you know, I've been trying to get a Cartridge Recycling Fundraiser together for STMAA. I'm pleased to announce that I've finally found a company that will assist in making our cartridge fundraiser simple. I would like to provide you with the log-in and password information so each of you can review and decide if STMAA should push forward and get the information out to our band families.

What I like about Cartridgefundraising.com is that they have set up a website for STMAA so sponsors can easily register and make donations. Please review the following link and share your opinions.

After logging in, please select the website admin tab to see our current pricing and review website messages, etc. I've set STMAA's goal at $500. This is a starting goal that I'm sure will be surpassed quickly. One band parent and I have been collecting cartridges for STMAA for the past couple of years. I have a large pile at home as well as cartridges that I've stored at STHS. All payments will be written to STMAA and mailed to STMAA's PO Box.

I look forward to hearing from you all. PS. If STMAA is OK with this program, I would like to pass this project on to a current band parent to chair.

San Jose Jazz Festival (August 7-9)

The San Jose Jazz Festival was on August 7th, 8th and 9th this year, so the opportunity has passed, but we usually have this opportunity every year. The Jazz Society and Filco Events about having ST students work again this year. This is a great way to earn money for your band accounts and hear some graet music while you do it. We are looking for people to make at least a 6 hour commitment. You will earn $10 / hour for your band account and have a 30 min (non paid) break If you are interested send me an email at steveb48@aol.com. I need to get a list of interested folks soon so we can start to work on schedules.

STMAA Fundraising

Fundraising is a crucial part of our program. On the extremely limited amount of funds that we receive from the state and the school district we are faced with a difficult choice, we either can limit the music education of our students or we can fundraise to provide the best possible music education experiences we can for our students.

STMAA provides several excellent fundraising opportunities. STMAA provides guidelines based on our annual budget that show how much each student's contribution to the overall cost of the program is. The funds that the students generate does not completely cover the entire cost of our yearly budget and that is why STMAA provides both fundraising for students and for our gener al fund.

There are several ways that you can support STMAA at this time:

We Care Coffee Fundraiser. On Tuesday, September 21st we launched our annual fundraiser through We Care Coffee. The proceeds from this fundraiser benefit e ach student's individual account to be used to pay each student's band fees and support our music program. The fundraiser is a pre-sale fundraiser. Each student has a packet with an order form, catalog, and informative flyer. I have attached sam ple letters to send via email to encourage online sales by people that you know, a sample of this years coffee label and the informational flyer. Orders are due October 7th.

You can support our general fund by attending our Monthly Dinner dine-outs . Simply go to our website at www.600building.com and download the flyers for our monthly dinner dine-outs. Our dine out is at McDonalds' on Bernal on Tuesday, October 7th.

You can also donate your used ink jet cartridges to be recycled with funds going to support the STMAA general fund. There is bin in room 803 to collect these items.
