Course Description

The Santa Teresa Wind Ensemble is the advanced performing group for students who are serious about study of their instruments. Instruction in this ensemble focuses on the preparation of music in a variety of types and styles for public concerts, adjudicated festivals, and other events along with a focus on high school level band technique (tone, rhythmic accuracy, technical facility, articulation, intonation, blend, balance, and musical expression).

Students are required to participate in all performances by the group. Participation also includes a bi-weekly sectional rehearsal and private lessons are strongly encouraged. The Santa Teresa Wind Ensemble requires an increased level of commitment by the students who have demonstrated to Ms. Bounds superior levels of knowledge, enthusiasm, selfdirection, and skill. This is the opportunity for advanced musicians to showcase their talent.

This is a year long course and is by audition only. Additional fundraising may be necessary for this ensemble. This ensemble has an increased performance schedule and a required concert uniform.

Pre-requisite: Audition only. (Auditions occur in mid-Spring) Additional auditions may be held throughout the year as necessary.

Costs

For Students involved in Marching Band or Color Guard contributions are due as follows:

• $100 Due January 18, 2010

For Students NOT involved in Marching Band or Color Guard contributions are due as follows:

• $50 Due September 30, 2009
• $50 Due January 30, 2010

Concert Dress-Wind Ensemble

Men: Black suit (black suit jacket, black slacks, black socks, black dress shoes) White Dress Shirt Solid French Blue tie Necktie ($22) French Blue Pocket Kerchief ($7.50) These prices include tax.

The blue tie Necktie and Blue Pocket Kerchief MUST be purchased directly from Ms. Bounds (so the items will match)

All men have the OPTION of purchasing the entire outfit from Men?s Warehouse for the following discounted prices (you may choose to purchase any or all of these items).

• Solid White Joseph Sleiss Shirt-$49

And the necktie & kerchief as listed above. Students are NOT required to purchase the men's warehouse suit or white shirt.

Women: This year we are all purchasing THE SAME BLACK DRESS. This dress is to be purchased from Ms. Bounds for $62 (this includes tax & shipping)

Students may use money from their band account. Students needing financial assistance should contact Ms. Bounds directly.

Sept 2009: This message is for families of male students purchasing a black suit for this year's Wind Ensemble or Jazz Band. You may purchase a black suit from wherever you like. Men's Warehouse has them listed for $199. They have told us if we have 8 students who are going to purchase a suit from Men's Warehouse then they can give you a 10% discount on the suits, however, the band director would need to know who those 8 students are. So if you are planning on purchasing your suit from Men's Warehouse can you contact the band director to try to get you a discount?
